Beginning to cut away the bad metal

 

 

 

OK, so sandblasting the chassis with Paul’s sandblaster was not going to remove the epoxy, so we brought the chassis into his garage, and decided to open the front crossmember to see how bad the rust was.

 

10 Minutes of work with an angle grinder, and we had the bottom plate of the crossmember cut and bent backwards. No going back now!!!!!

 

Its not pretty is it? You can see inside the crossmember how badly it has rusted.

 

And that, believe it or not, is all the work I got done to the chassis for August. We went on holidays a day or 2 later for a few weeks.
