Taking off the old epoxy

While I was away on holidays, Paul and Shane got in contact with a guy called Shay in Dublin, who runs a chemical cleaning of metal and sandblasting business. I got talking to Shay on my return, and brought the chassis over to him to start experimenting.

This first set of pictures show the result of him trying to sandblast the epoxy on the center section of the frame with his industrial sandblaster on full strength. He also tried a paint stripping liquid. The sandblasted area is on the side of the center backbone, and the area he tested the paint stripper on is on the top of the center backbone. Needless to say, neither worked.

At this stage, I’m getting more worried, and Shay is shocked at the strength of the epoxy – he’s never seen anything like it!
