Sandblasting

March 29th 2006, and its starting to look unlikely that I'll have this car back together in time for Eurofest in May. I was really busy with work and other stuff, and found it very difficult to find time to work on the car.

Anyway, I found an industrial sandblaster in Castledermot who was willing to take off the remaining epoxy from my frame for me. The first 2 photos below show the various suspension parts from the DeLorean before sandblasting, and the rest of the pictures show how I got them back 2 days later after sandblasting - needless to say I was very happy!!

Most car restorers in America have heard of POR-15 paint, but guys in Ireland and Europe are not familiar with it. It is supposedly the best paint in the world for protecting your car from rust. It can even be painted over a rusted surface!

The manufactures claim that it will never scratch, chip or peel! It’s so strong that if some of it gets on your fingers, you have to wait a few weeks until your skin eventually replaces itself naturally, as it will absolutely never come off... Sounds strong enough for this project!

I bought a tin of it, and painted all my freshly sandblasted suspension parts with it. You can see a picture of the tin below, along with the results of painting the suspension pieces with it.
