Welding the rear of the frame

Back to the chassis restoration - remember the plate from under the engine cradle which I removed? This is a newly manufactured plate from my friend Aaron Dixon, to the exact specification as the original one. Aaron created all the tooling in his garage to replicate the design of the original, and it came out fantastic. He still has the tooling, so if you would like one of these plates, let me know and I will put you in touch with Aaron.

Check out the pics of this plate after being welded into place by Sean O'Brien...

The next pics show how Sean welded the sides of the rear shocktowers closed, along with welding in the original plates I cut out from the fuel tank end of the center tunnel section, and the small box sections near the rear upper control arm mounting point. All these welds were then smoothed out before galvanising.
