Measuring a real DeLorean
The pictures below show the rig Neil built to measure my car in 3D. The frame is sitting on rails, and was moved from the front of the car to the back at a set spacing. At each point, multiple measurements were taken from the edge of the frame to the car, thus slowly building up a data set to be transferred to plywood and build a buck back at his workshop. Measurements were only taken along one side of the car to ensure an accurate symmetry.
Neil also took rubbings of certain areas using paper - this helped get an exact panel size and panel gap measurement.
